Last year I adopted a 7 year old small terrier mix (Jack Russell/Westie) from a shelter. Shortly after I adopted her I actually became fearful of taking her out for walks. She was barking at everyone and every dog that passed by. After a couple of dogs came after us, I knew something had to change. And a class at a pet store was not going to cut it, because she could not be around other dogs on leash. I called Sit Happens, and they sent Josh out to do a demo.
Little did I know I was going to have a dog whisperer and Mr. Miyagi in one package. Josh reassured me that my dog was not aggressive just over reactive. I finally believed him after he left this past session. When he brought his dog out to walk with my dog, I realized what Josh had been saying all along was true, my dog just did not know what to do around other dogs and people, and she had to be shown and lead by ME her pack leader. My Biscuit is really learning a lot. I know that my response as an owner makes a huge difference in how she responds. Practice after Josh’s demonstrations is so important! I like how the training sessions where real world and focused on mine and my dogs individual challenges. Biscuit is so much easier to walk on leash now, and when she gets off track, I know how to correct it. I would recommend Sit Happens to anyone needing dog training!
